The SAFE California Campaign is supported by a powerful range of voices who are speaking out in support of replacing California’s broken death penalty. Here are their stories.

• The Innocent People who have spent time in prison for crimes they did not commit know firsthand that serious mistakes happen in our criminal justice system. As long as we have a death penalty, we will run the risk of executing an innocent person.
• Murder Victim Families A growing number of families of murder victims are choosing to speak out to say that the death penalty does not help them, and to share their most personal and painful stories of loss.
• Law Enforcement More and more current and retired members of our law enforcement community are speaking out against California’s dysfunctional death penalty system and in support of SAFE California.
• New Voices Thirty years ago, a group of people contributed to the drafting and enactment of California’s current death penalty laws. At the time, they believed the death penalty was a good choice…today they are working with SAFE California to take it back.
