Obie Anthony

At 19 years old I was tried and convicted for murder even though I was innocent. The District Attorney wanted to sentence me to death. Thankfully, he eventually dropped the request to seek the death penalty and I was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

It was from within the walls of Folsom Prison that I fought to tell my story. For years, literally years, no one listened to me. But finally, thanks to volunteer attorneys and the Northern California Innocence Project, my name was cleared last October. In December, I spent Christmas with my family for the first time in almost two decades.

I can’t get back the 17 years that were taken from me. But I can make a difference and make change.
